State of Mind:

A Consciousness Science 'Expo'

Brighton Corn Exchange

30 June 2012

The one-day State of Mind science expo was organised by David Schwartzman and Hazelle Woodhurst, bothof the Sackler Centre for Consciousness Science at University of Sussex, as part of the first ever public outreach and engagementprogram in the 16 year history of the 'Annual Meeting of the Association for the Scientific Study of Consciousness' (ASSC16),which this year was also hosted by the Sackler Centre.Held at the Brighton Corn Exchange, 'State of Mind' explored the new science of consciousness and sought to make the ASSC16 not just an academic event but a 'true citywide celebration of consciousness science'. An ambition more than surpassed on the day considering 'State of Mind' attracted over 1,800 members of the public of all ages and backgrounds, with queues at times stretching round the block as the Corn Exchange reached capacity.

The expo also ran three very popular short talk sessions on Zen, Art and Creativity, Art and the Scientific Study of Consciousness and Consciousness: The Final Frontier- and we are delighted to offer the podcasts of these talks on the Pulse Project here.
