Professor Frank Close OBE is a noted particle physicist who is currently Professor of Physics at the University of Oxford and a Fellow of Exeter College, Oxford. Prof Close has worked in Stanford, Cern and Rutherford Appleton Laboratory. In 1996 he won the Kelvin Medal and Prize from the Institute of Physics for "outstanding contributions to the public understanding of Physics". He is the author of many popular science books including the Cosmic Onion, Lucifer's Legacy: The Meaning of Asymmetry, Particle Physics: A Very Short Introduction and The Infinity Puzzle: Quantum Field Theory and the Hunt for an Orderly Universe.
